Community Evening: The Management Hypothetical
Artists and managers face tough business and creative decisions every single day. Do you take the opening slot? Is that sync fee good or not? What do you do?
APRA AMCOS and Music Pool Berlin present The Management Hypothetical panel to help you answer these questions.
Inspired by Geoffrey Robertson's "Hypotheticals" TV series in Australia, this will explore the decision-making process of an imagined artist's career with the help from a panel of expert managers.
Through a series of 'what if' scenarios, we'll examine how a manager engages with an artist: from the point of discovery, through to sourcing and securing deals across the industry, managing an artist’s expectations and maintaining their well-being throughout their career.
In case you hadn't guessed: this is an essential panel for artists and for anyone who works in, or hopes to work in, artist management.
Entry to this panel is free, and there will be a reception after the talk, hosted by APRA AMCOS.
Please note that entry is free of charge to the entire event from 4 pm onwards. There will still be an entrance control at the venue - you can either mention MUSIC POOL, or register your free ticket here

Rowan Brand - Founder and Director of Tribe Management
Founded by Rowan Brand, Matthijs Boom and Jack Saunders in 2017, Tribe is a boutique international artist management company based in the UK and the Netherlands with a roster including, Bear's Den, Dan Croll, Alpines, Tusks, Aaron Taylor, Amber Run and Paul Frith.
Alessia Avallone - Founder and Director of Language of Sound
Alessia Avalone was born in Naples and moved to London seven years ago, to start working as a curator for various art galleries. After working on the David Bowie exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum, she decided to switch her career to music. Working for three years as a booking agent for Primary Talent, she moved into artist management founding Language of Sound.
Language of Sound refuses to be a simple management agency but aims to be a creative platform for musicians, based primarily on sensing music as an art form and experimenting with a philosophy to assist musicians in their careers based on care and understanding, with the aim to create a bridge between different art forms. Each artists she represents speaks a different language and wants to communicate a different story. She works together with them as a team where she mostly supports them being creative and designing the right strategy to stay happy in the industry. Alessia Avalone collaborates with David August, Gigi Masin, Huerco S, Anton Irisarri and Ron Trent.
Adam Townsend has been leading APRA AMCOS Member Relations operations in UK and Europe for the past 5 years and is based out of RAK Studios in London. Adam looks after the interests of APRA AMCOS songwriter members based around Europe including Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Parcels, Jordan Rakei, Sam Dixon to name a few. He also runs APRA AMCOS incredibly successful songwriting camp, SongHubs, in this territory which has helped the careers of Troye Sivan, JP Cooper, Alex The Astronaut, SAFIA and Peking Duk.
